Scruton Allotments Potato Challenge 2025

The annual Potato Challenge is back, with new, sustainable, re-usable growing bags.

See who can grow the biggest weight of potatoes from one tuber grown in a bag. It’s free to enter, just pick up your potato and bag and have a go. The Sarpo Mira main crop seed potatoes have been sourced from Braithwaites Nursery: braithwaites.co.uk.

We will have the grand weigh-in and BBQ later in the year when there will be prizes for under 16s and over 16s.

Collect your bag and potato now from the communal shed. The fabric-based bags are a little more expensive than the previous plastic ones so please only take what you need and ensure eveyone gets a bag.
